The Temple of Witchcraft is a not-for-profit religious organization based in the State of New Hampshire. Co-founded by Christopher Penczak, the Temple started in 1998 as a system of magickal training and personal development, and eventually developed into a formal tradition of Witchcraft. Now, as an outgrowth of the work of students, initiates and graduates of the programs, the Temple of Witchcraft has evolved into an organization based on traditions of modern magick, Witchcraft, and Neopaganism. The work of the Temple is both otherworldy and terrestrial, seeking to strengthen the connections between spirit and matter through inner transformation and public service.
The Temple of Witchcraft’s goal on an individual level is to awaken the potential of the human soul to its natural gifts of psychic awareness, communion with nature and the spirits, and magick. Each individual seeks to live a magickal life. Through these awakenings, we seek an expansion of consciousness through the alignment of our souls with Love, Will, and Wisdom to complete the Great Work.
On a greater scale, we seek the restoration, maintenance, and evolution of humanity to the Garden of the Gods, the cooperative consciousness where all things are in harmony and community. Our myths define this awareness as the First Garden, known as Avalon, Hesperides, Zep Tepi, Shamballa, Lemuria and even Eden. We manifest this vision through both our inner workings and service to the greater community. By these actions, we plant the seeds and tend the garden of Witchcraft culture, tradition and community.
The Temple of Witchcraft is divided into three main areas of work:
Mystery School
As our tradition is one of experience, the best way to experience the path is to actively train in its magickal and spiritual lessons. Four levels of the Mystery School are divided into the Oracular, Fertility, Ecstatic, and Gnostic mysteries. Training emphasizes the ability to look within, awaken your own gifts and abilities and perform both lesser and greater magicks for your own evolution and the betterment of the world around you.
Seminary School
Available to graduates of the Mystery School, the Seminary trains future High Priestesses and High Priests of the Temple. Teachings include the fifth inner mystery of Descent through the lessons of the seven gates of the Goddess and the outer mystery of Service through the Journey of the God, or hero, through the twelve zodiac signs. Seminary graduates are ordained as legal ministers.
Ministerial Church
Providing an outlet for our students and ministers to serve the community, including people, animals, spirits, and the planet, our ministerial church is divided into twelve areas of service. The mission of the Ministerial Church is to provide support, structure, and mentoring for individuals who seek to manifest their Will—their own work—in the world. Services include but are not limited to: public ritual, education, spiritual counseling, environmental education and activism, prison ministry, children’s ministry, civil rights outreach, community-building and support for Neopagan arts and culture.
All three levels of the Temple work together to serve the magickal needs of the community, both those members training within the Temple Tradition, and the broader public curious about Neopaganism and those who share our values and concerns, if not the same religious tradition.
Membership
Membership is divided amongst three main categories: General, Honored and Ministerial.
General Membership
General Membership of the Temple includes anyone who attends at least three official Temple of Witchcraft events and seeks to be an active member in the community.
Honored Membership
Those currently enrolled in, or graduates of, the Mystery School are considered Honored Members of the Temple, including all past students from the Temple of Witchcraft training before the establishment of the formal organization.
Ministerial Membership
Graduates of the Seminary School actively involved in the ministerial work of the Temple are Ministerial Members.
